FADED GLORY, The paintings of Loraine Lamb Lalonde By Jeff Russ APRIL 16, 2018   Canadian organic farmer and former signmaker Loraine Lamb Lalonde’s fascination with signs began as a child on her grandparents’ farm. Frugality is often the mother of invention, and Loraine’s grandfather found many practical uses for the old tin signs discarded by local merchants. These vintage signs became the backdrop for her earliest memories. An artist from an early age, Loraine was always drawing or painting. As is often the case, she soon got requests to make signs for neighboring businesses in her hometown of Ormstown, QC, outside of Montreal. This exterior sign package was designed for an historic building built in 1911 in downtown Orlando FL. It consists of one large Blade Sign mounted to the corner of the building, so it can be seen from both streets. One Illuminated Sign Cabinet with the new Walgreen’s Logo above the main entrance, and three sets of Channel Letters above the windows. The design work was assigned to Visual Sign Design by White Sign Company. VSD designed the signs to scale worked out the materials and supplied WSC with the proofs for approval by IBC International Building Consultants and Engineering. VSD sent all the files to scale to WSC for production. The design concept for the Blade Sign was originally designed by Process Architecture LLC. The Exterior Signs For The Edison Restaurant at Disney Springs. Here is a look into creating The Edison Restaurant Exterior Signs. This project consists of two sets of Open Faced Neon Channel Letters for the new restaurant at Disney Springs at Disney World in Orlando FL. One set of Channel Letters went on the tower and other set on the side of the building. This restaurant was designed to look like a 1920s electric company (see below). To give the signs a look and feel of an old electric company, some of the Letters on the tower are made with neon filled crackle tubes. This gives those neon letters a moving electric effect which appears to be blinking at times.
